After finishing school, I found it challenging to decide which career path to pursue.

Please briefly introduce yourself (major, school, current job, etc.)
I’m currently working as a developer in the Infra field, mainly focusing on automation tasks such as CI/CD.
I studied Computer Science in Canada and started preparing for job applications with DrawDream during my final semester. After about four months of preparation, I successfully landed a full-time position right upon graduation.
Before joining my current company, I also had about four months of internship experience.
What made you decide to receive career consulting from DrawDream?
The reason I decided to join DrawDream was that the developer job market is very competitive, and since I didn’t have much professional experience, I felt completely lost about where to start and what to focus on.
Because of my limited experience, my confidence was very low, and even when I had interview opportunities, the results were never good. I also realized that the knowledge I gained in school didn’t fully cover what was being asked in interviews, which made me feel the need for expert help — that’s when I decided to work with DrawDream.
What was the most difficult part of preparing for a developer job?
For me, the most challenging part was the lack of work experience. In interviews, I was often asked about challenges I faced or projects I had completed at work, but since I didn’t have much hands-on experience, I struggled to give solid answers.
To overcome this, my DrawDream coaches assigned me small-scale projects to work on. After completing them, I received detailed feedback — which helped me understand how real-world projects are structured, what kinds of challenges arise, and how to approach problem-solving in an actual work environment.
Through these experiences, I gained practical insight, and when I went into interviews later, I was able to give genuine and realistic answers instead of made-up stories.
Which part of the consulting process helped you the most?
The interview preparation was the most valuable part for me.
I used to struggle with expressing my thoughts clearly and speaking in an organized way during interviews. DrawDream helped me overcome that by conducting 1:1 mock interviews multiple times. Repeating this process helped me improve not only my English communication skills but also my confidence in articulating technical ideas under pressure.
What do you think makes DrawDream unique?
One of DrawDream’s biggest strengths is that all the coaches are developers currently working in Canada’s big tech companies. Because of that, they clearly understand what interviewers and companies in the North American job market are looking for.
For example, through DrawDream, I learned that live coding skills and a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals are the two most important factors in North American developer interviews. Knowing this helped me prepare with focus — and it definitely made a big difference in my actual interviews.
What was the biggest change you felt after going through the DrawDream program?
Before coaching, I used to get very nervous and lose confidence as soon as an interview started. The biggest change I noticed was that I gradually became more confident speaking English during interviews.
Also, by learning to anticipate common questions in advance, I felt much more relaxed and was finally able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge I had prepared.
Do you have any advice for others preparing for a developer job?
I want to tell others that even if you don’t have much experience, you can still succeed as long as you keep working to fill your gaps and build your strengths.
Don’t let the lack of experience define your limits — instead, focus on highlighting your strengths and unique abilities. Also, unexpected questions will always come up in interviews, so problem-solving skills and curiosity are essential. When working on projects or studying technical topics, always ask why and try to understand things deeply — that mindset will help you a lot during your job search.
