Please briefly introduce yourself (major, school, current job, etc.)

I currently live in Vancouver, Canada. I majored in Computer Engineering in university and, after graduation, gained about five years of experience as a Full-Stack Developer at a software company. Later, I decided to look for new opportunities but felt stuck — no matter how hard I tried, there was little progress. That’s when I discovered DrawDream and began receiving coaching for about three months.

What made you decide to pursue a career in Canada?

I was really drawn to the working culture of Canadian companies. Compared to many companies in Korea, I appreciated how horizontal and respectful the work environment in Canada is. Employee rights are well-protected, and it’s completely normal to take vacation days, sick days, or parental leave without any pressure.

Because of this culture, people tend to have a higher level of satisfaction and loyalty toward their companies. I also liked how coworkers don’t criticize each other’s weaknesses but instead help one another grow, teach, and learn together as a team.

What made you decide to receive career consulting from DrawDream?

Even though I had five years of development experience, I had no idea how to prepare for interviews properly. Each time I got an interview, the result wasn’t great — but the real issue was that I didn’t know what I was doing wrong or how to improve.

My resume was also far from competitive, and I didn’t know how or where to apply effectively. That’s when I realized I needed professional guidance — and that’s why I turned to DrawDream.

What was the most difficult part of preparing for a developer job?

I assumed I could rely on what I already knew from my previous experience, but I soon realized that switching jobs requires different preparation.

I didn’t know how to study or what to focus on for technical interviews, so I ended up wasting a lot of time and effort on things that weren’t truly relevant. Looking back, I was working hard but not smart, and DrawDream helped me redirect that effort in the right way.

Which part of the consulting process helped you the most?

The coaching covered everything — from resume refinement and interview preparation to developing the mindset and skills expected of a senior developer.

Thanks to that, I wasn’t just preparing for interviews in a superficial way. I was learning things that would actually be useful on the job after getting hired, which made the entire process incredibly valuable.

What do you think makes DrawDream unique?

My coaches took a personalized approach, identifying what kind of coaching method worked best for me.

They constantly shared updated insights and trends in the developer hiring process so I could stay current with what Canadian tech companies were looking for.

They didn’t just give advice — they actively helped me strategize and stay competitive in a fast-changing market.

What was the biggest change you noticed after joining DrawDream?

Even though I had five years of development experience, I often doubted whether I was truly growing or improving. I felt stuck and lacked direction.

Through DrawDream, my coaches helped me pinpoint exactly what skills I was missing and how to strengthen them. They gave me a clear study path and strong motivation to move forward. That clarity completely changed my approach.

What advice would you give to others preparing for a developer job?

I know that asking for help takes courage. Many people, including myself, want to feel the satisfaction of achieving something completely on their own — but that can sometimes hold you back from reaching out when you truly need guidance.

If you’ve been trying alone for months without progress, it’s smarter and more efficient to learn from those who’ve already walked that path. I’m genuinely grateful that I decided to reach out to DrawDream and met such incredible coaches before it was too late.

What do you think was the most important factor in your successful job search with DrawDream?

During my time with DrawDream, the coaches truly became my pillar of strength.

There were days when I felt disappointed after interviews that didn’t go as well as I hoped. But knowing that I had mentors who would review every interview with me — analyzing what went wrong and helping me improve — gave me incredible encouragement.

By revisiting my failed interviews and refining my answers, I saw noticeable progress in my next ones. As time went on, I could actually see myself improving — and that helped me stay motivated and consistent, rather than discouraged. Thanks to that steady support, I was able to stay focused and give my very best throughout the entire process.
